Gates 1948 Gin
Gates 1948 Gin
The small batch, handcrafted Gates 1948 Gins are inspired by a visit to Fred & Ivy Gates walled garden on a summer afternoon in 1948, where we are surrounded by blooming country flowers, herbs and vegetables. On a hill, the traditional English garden catches a slight breeze from across the countryside and warmth emanates from the old, brick walls, the bees hum and delicate aromas fill the air.
On the original site in the tiny village of Cold Overton, the Gates family continue to run a thriving Garden Centre and still grow traditional, old fashioned bedding plants in their glasshouses. This proper English gin is distilled locally in Oakham, Rutland, with hand-picked viola flowers and lemon thyme, grown by Gates and botanicals inspired by Fred & Ivy’s most precious specimen plants, grown all those years ago and now layered over a classic dry gin.

Gates 1948 Apple & Pear Gin
Product of Rutland
A rich, classic English combination. We infuse our classic Dry Gin with juicy pears and ripe apples creating a full bodied, bold and fruity flavour, still with a good hint of juniper and a floral nose. This is a well balanced moreish gin.
Gates 1948 Raspberry & Lavender Gin
Product of Rutland
Evoking English summers gone by and captured in a glass. We pick whole raspberries and macerate them until the flavour is just right before adding to our classic Dry Gin. We then distill fresh lavender flowers from the glasshouse and blend together creating a beautiful fresh and fruity gin.
