Château des Plassons Pineau de Charentes Rastignac is a French fortified wine which comes in at 17% Vol. This precious vin de liqueur is made with grape must which comes from the vineyards of Château des Plassons. This is then blended with their own Cognac eau de vie and aged in oak barrels for at least 12 months before bottling.

All combined it has a delightful golden colour with an appealing aroma of Cognac which has a predominantly sweet flavour. In France this is traditionally served as an aperitif but with the delicate flavour this pairs perfectly with foie gras, mixed cheese plates and rich chocolate.

On the nose it reveals rich aromas which are made up of fresh peaches and figs as well as dried prunes and almonds. It also has some floral notes combined into it. On the palette, fresh fruit dominates with a pleasant freshness which is close to citrus and helps balance the sweetness. The finish is that of honey and vanilla which makes this the perfect way to end a meal.

The vineyards were build in the 15th century. At the time King Francois the First was born in Cognac. For the nest two centuries Château des Plassons managed all the vineyards around the chateau. It was only in the 18th century they had their own vineyards with the development of the region allowing the extension.
