Jerusalem Artichokes¬†can also be referred to as sunroot, sunchoke or earth apple and are actually a species of sunflower native to central North America. These nutty, crunchy vegetable isn’t actually an artichoke and often looks like a ginger root. The flesh is white which is sweet and crisp and surrounded by a brown skin. Ideal to be cooked in a similar way to potatoes or root vegetables, try roasting, saut√©ing or frying for the best results. A perfect winter dish ingredient, these are delicious roasted alongside garlic and rosemary and finished with shaved gouda.
