At Gates Farm Shop we stock a selection of rCup Reusable Travel Mugs in both 8oz and 12oz sizes with 100% leak proof and easy open and shut technology. There is a push open, push close top which is raised slightly when open and this feature also allows you to drink from 360° like a normal open cup.

rCup seals are easy to remove and replace. To extend the life of the product the company will replace worn and damaged seals for free.

Keep your drinks hot or cold for 60 -90 minutes. The outer thermal layer of each rCups is made from used cups and is insulated to keep your drinks piping hot. There are instructions for washing as well as general care inside of each cup. Make sure to only fill your cup to the designated line to avoid any spillages and if you’re using in a coffee shop, let the barista know. Hot liquid over 65°c can cause steam pressure to build up inside a sealed cup so if the push button becomes stiff simply loosen the lid first to relieve the pressure.

Eco Credentials

500 billion cups are made and thrown away each year which uses 200 million trees and enough energy to power 530,000 homes. On average, each person throws away 350 cups each year. By switching to rCup this will save on landfill and contribute to the recycling of used cups. It’s the small things that make big things happen.

These cups are developed and designed by ashortwalk in association with Nextex and simply cups. They are a company who specialise in making unique products from waste including bird feeders from old pot plants and chopping boards from recycled paper packaging.  The award winning design company is led by former Dyson designer and inventor Dan Dicker and built from a desire to create meaningful products from recycled products. These cups are designed to last 10 years.

If one in ten coffee drinkers switches from throwaway cups, 50 million used cups could be recycled. Add that to the 50 billion disposable cups we won’t be drinking from each year and together we’ll be making an incredible, plant saving difference. This is dishwasher safe, on the top shelf and will only remain watertight if the seals and mechanism are kept clean. It is suggested that you clean your cup after each use and do not put it in the microwave. With your help Simply Cups collects millions of used coffee cups nationwide and uses 6 to make 1 rCup. They are shredded and blended with recycled polymer, like the plastic lids you get on most takeaway coffee cups. Before rCup, only 1 in 400 cups were getting recycled with the main problem being the plastic lining they have in them but with the process the company uses, they use the entire cup to create a stronger, usable material.
