Simon Hackett Hills View Shiraz is a 2017 vintage which is made by McLaren Vale legend Simon Hackett.
A wonderful, spicy shiraz with a balanced taste which is packed full of luscious black fruit flavours, black pepper and spice which is followed by subtle hints of vanilla.
Made with 100% Shiraz grapes with a portion of the wine barrel fermented in a 2nd year American oak hogshead. Then this is combined with the rest of the wine and fermented again in oak barrels for 10 months. This gives the youthful flavour of the wine an enhanced touch by maturation and a long, soft yet firm tannin finish.
Created in Australia with 14% Vol and delicious to drink strait away, however this will definitely improve with further bottle maturation. On the nose this boasts peppery aromas coupled with juicy, rich plums and toasty vanilla notes.
The resulting wine reflects the intensity of the fruit, the minerality of the soil and the personality of Simon himself. Ideal as the perfect partner for char grilled meats, spicy veggie chilli or roast game. This elegant wine is just as tasty by itself however of alongside your weekend cheese and charcuterie board.
