It is used to produce rye and sourdough bread, providing a distinctive flavour and improved nutritional content compared to bread baked with wheat flour. Its Lower in gluten and typically produces a slightly sticky bread dough and loaves with a close crumb structure and full bodied flavour. It is often combined with strong bread flour for lighter loaves.
This Flour can be enjoyed in anything from rye bread to scones. Our favourite recipes for wholemeal rye flour are apple pie with rye pastry, rye sourdough served with stuffed peppers or rye crispbreads perfect for dipping.
This flour is not suitable for use in a bread machine unless you have a rye bread setting.
