Spooky Sausage Mummies

A fun recipe to do with the kids that is not only quick and easy but delicious too. Supervision will be needed with the sharp objects and heat but they can have a blast decorating and constructing the mummies.

You can get edible eyes or use something else if you would prefer to avoid cream cheese and olives.

STEP 1
Preheat your oven to 180°c and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

STEP 2
Unroll your sheet, using a little extra flour if it’s sticking. Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut 1cm strips lengthways.

STEP 3
Wrap a piece around each sausage, rotating as you go. Trim off any excess from the end.

STEP 4
Place on your tray and once they’re all done, use a pastry brush and coat your puff strips with the beaten egg.

STEP 5
Bake in the oven for 18 – 20 minutes or until they’re puffed and golden. The type of sausage you use will affect this time; check you pack for details if you’re unsure.

STEP 6
Set them aside to cool a little and then decorate with two small blobs of cream cheese and a small piece of black olive for the eyes.

STEP 7
Serve with a little “blood” (ketchup) and enjoy.
