QUAY Ingredients Juniper Berries are a great ingredient if you like experimenting with flavours.
These dark berries come from the juniper tree and they have a tart, resinous flavour which creates rich, warming meals.
Although juniper berries are a popular addition to meat based recipes we have found they work so well with veggies. They are a great addition to sauerkraut and go perfectly with slow roasted tagines and stews. Juniper berries also work well in sweet recipes such as rich fruit cake and stewed apple.
If you like the odd gin and tonic then put a generous handful of juniper berries in with your bottle of gin and leave it for a week or more before adding it to your favourite mixer or if you prefer a more healing brew then steep the berries into a warming herbal tea.
